MENd Minds Group – St. Aidan’s Centre, Wythenshawe
Well what’s happening here then?
Two local PCSOs from Greater Manchester Police visited the new MENd Minds Group based in St Aidan’s Centre, Wythenshawe. The project is aimed at improving the wellbeing of local men through developing a community / nature garden in the grounds. The police were so impressed by the project; building a pond and wild flower meadow, they returned with a £100 donation!
The Group, which began in June 2018, has had 2 trips out so far; one was to visit the Hulme Community Garden to share ideas, and the other was to join in the festivities of the Wythenshawe games in Wythenshawe Park.
Mend Minds
Life can be stressful and busy! Sometimes we can get caught up in this and fail to notice what is going on around us. Sometimes we find it difficult to ‘switch off.’
Mend Minds promotes mindfulness for men by providing active participation in projects which help focus minds upon the world around us. For example, gardening, DIY, nature, cooking and art. Awakening our senses to what is happening at the present moment. This is becoming more mindful, which can help us to understand ourselves better and make life more enjoyable.
Of course there is more to the group than this; developing friendships, team work and there will be plenty of banter!
